Brown Tail Moth Information
Please reference this document for all necessary information regarding brown tail moths/caterpillars.

Brown tail moths are an invasive forest species native to Maine from April-June. The brown tail moth hairs can become airborne causing symptoms such as:
• Rashes
• Respiratory distress
• Breathing troubles

While we are able to take measures to slightly prevent the spread and severity of the moths, as well as providing relief medication for moderate rashes in our store, this is a natural issue that is ultimately out of our control. What we can do is continue to educate our guests with the necessary information to combat this issue. As a reminder, when making the choice to camp outdoors, there is also an inadvertent choice in potential exposure to insects and animals, resulting in a lack of control to all of the repercussions of camping.
